MUST be willing to be flexible as jobs may change. Position Summary: The Fire Alarm Installer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various trade specific systems. An Installer will be specific to one of three trades including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, working in residential or commercial projects. Position Responsibilities: Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required for electrical and fire alarm systems. Ability to follow wiring schematics and fire alarm plans completed by vendors to ensure proper operation in the field. Create accurate as builds of fire alarm cabling routing and splice points. Labeling of fire alarm cabling and junction boxes to identify circuitry by zone and node. Ability to troubleshoot SLC and NAC circuitry in a timely manner to locate faults. Competency in wiring aspects of fire alarm interfaces with elevators, generators, access control system, and HVAC systems. Knowledge of addressable, zoned, horn/strobe and voice fire alarm systems. Identify all tools required for tasks. Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks. Assemble and install electrical equipment and troubleshoot for malfunctions. Terminate wires and cable to electrical equipment such as but not limited to breakers and control panels. Test electrical components for continuity and proper voltage readings according to specifications. Inspect electrical equipment and components to identify hazards and to ensure the equipment is in good operational condition. Setup and maintain temporary power systems. Install and maintain grounding systems for all equipment and structures. Maintain knowledge of basic electrical theory (for example, but not limited to ohms law). Be proficient in cable pulling methods used to run the cable through specified pathways. Use specialized electrical tools such as ohm meters, multi-meters, and terminating devices. Identify different types, gauges, and color of cables and wires. Follow instructions and safety regulations correctly. Be reliable, accountable, and consistent in performing administrative processes. Illustrate knowledge and experience of working with a lock out tag out of system. Express an excellent working knowledge of Building Codes/Electrical Codes. Maintain knowledge in boxing and pulling in compliance with local building codes. Communicate well and have professional interpersonal skills. Responsible for training and coaching co-workers. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: High School diploma or GED. Required: 5+ years’ experience in commercial electrical construction. Required: Fire alarm experience and license. Required: Understanding of how to read all phases of construction drawings. Required: Understanding of the National Electrical Code and National Fire Protection Code and ability to utilize it. Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Required: Good people skills and a great attitude are a MUST. Physical Demands: Must be able to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting. Must be able to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
