ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Technician/Engineer.
  • Strong technical knowledge of BS 5839 and fire safety regulations.
  • Demonstrable experience of testing, inspecting, and fault-finding on fire alarm systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites, sometimes at short notice.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to complete detailed compliance reports.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are recruiting a Fire Alarm Technician to join our Facilities Management team. This role will focus on supporting a new long-term contract, providing expert fire alarm services across multiple sites in the region.
The successful candidate will carry out installation, maintenance, testing, and fault diagnosis of fire alarm and associated life-safety systems. This is a role where no two days are the same – you may be responding to urgent reactive works one day, then completing planned inspections and compliance reporting the next. You’ll play a key part in protecting people, property, and businesses, making this a role with real impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, commission, and maintain fire alarm systems (both conventional and addressable).
  • Carry out regular servicing and functional testing in line with statutory requirements.
  • Diagnose and rectify system faults quickly and effectively.
  • Provide clear, accurate service reports using Joblogic, our CAFM platform, ensuring a robust compliance trail.
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance to minimise disruption for clients.
  • Work with our helpdesk and wider FM engineering team to ensure prompt response to reactive and emergency works.
  • Undertake additional compliance checks where required, such as emergency lighting or DDA systems.
  • Represent Heb Facilities Management on site with professionalism, ensuring safe and efficient delivery at all times.
