FIRE AND SAFETY TECHNICIAN

Location: Godalming, Surrey
Salary: £38,000 to £40,000 per annum
Charterhouse School is beautiful and a wonderful place to live and work. It was founded in 1611 and moved to its present magnificent 250-acre site near Godalming in Surrey in 1872. Few schools can offer such a splendid backdrop for teaching and learning, and the school community is very strong, with excellent relationships between pupils and staff.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A good standard of education, including English and Mathematics GCSE or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of current Health and Fire Safety legislation and its application.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures (desirable but training will be given)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in confidence
  • 3+ years in a similar role

Desirable Qualifications (but not essential):

The successful candidate will possess a strong track record or potential for achievement in:

  • Relevant health & fire safety qualifications (or working towards) such as:
  • Nebosh-National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Nebosh -Certificate in Fire Safety
  • BAFE-Certificate in Portable Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
  • NIEIC - Fundamentals of Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems
  • NIEIC- Maintenance of Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems
  • First Aid at Work certificate
  • Accredited PAT tester
  • Accredited Fire Door inspector
  • Valid UK Driver’s licence.
Responsibilities

The Health and Fire Safety Technician will provide support to the Health and Fire Safety team.
Ideally candidates will have a proven track record and experience in the industry and have an electrical or mechanical engineering background, however this is not essential as relevant training will be provided for the right candidate.
The Health and Fire Safety Technician will have ability to follow set procedures accurately and consistently. The candidate should be adaptable and demonstrate initiative. They will become part of a small team of professionals who are passionate about making a difference, and an organisation with a long-standing commitment to safety within its Schools.
