Description
We are hiring an Industrial Fire Captain with proven leadership experience in the emergency fire/EMS industry and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment. You must be a willing teacher and coach, comfortable with rapidly developing changes, and know what it takes to instill a healthy sense of pride and ownership on your team and be comfortable in a command role.   Job Summary:   The Fire Captain will direct and coordinate the activities of an assigned shift. They will be responsible to ensure that appropriate fire/ems support is provided in the controlling and extinguishing of fires; rescuing persons endangered by structural fires; preventing fire by reducing or eliminating potential fire hazards; responding to and providing assistance for medical aid calls, vehicle accidents, and Hazmat incidents.   This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to both, the Company’s and the Client’s Industrial Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.     Responsibilities:   * Responsible for all services including fire response, training, EMS, and basic safety duties as outlined in the scope of work. * Interact with client supervision and management for work assignment and other pertinent short- and long-term planning. * Maintains a competent and motivated work force, with emphasis on first-line supervisor accountability, through work assignments, performance evaluation, counseling, training, and managing member performance improvement actions. * Plans and oversees quality of the operations and field crews, including the monitoring of work standards, productively, acceptable work quality and service. * Submittal and coordination of payroll records and invoicing. * Incident command trained and has refinery experience acceptable to CITGO. * Maintains clear, timely, and accurate communications between company/customer management, administration staff, and personnel to ensure that standby services and support activities achieve company objectives. * Maintains safetyas the number one objective for all personnel. Enforces common safety standards and demonstrates that the belief is all accidents and injuries are preventable and unacceptable. * Able to meet the physical requirements required to perform firefighting tasks.  * Remains skilled in and properly applies modern fire suppression tactics, methods, and procedures at training drills and emergency Incidents.  * Projects a positive attitude and image to the client as a fire service professional to meet the client’s needs.  * Works effectively in following policies and procedures.  * Performs additional duties as required.   Minimum Required Qualifications:    * Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) * State of Louisiana Firefighter I/II or NFPA 1081 Industrial Firefighter * State of Louisiana Emergency Medical Technician – Basic * State of Louisiana Fire Officer I or higher * State of Louisiana Fire Instructor I or higher * Hazmat Technician Level (within 12 months of hire date) * Rescue Rope Technician (within 12 months of hire date) * Marine/general Spill Response (within 12 months of hire date) * NIMS 300 (within 12 months of hire date)
