Work Schedule: 48/96 Shift (48 hours on/ 96 hours off)
Monthly Stipend: $900( in lieu of health care and retirement)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years continuous fire suppression and emergency medical response experience as a paid or volunteer firefighter
  • Minimum of two (2) year supervisory experience at the level of Engineer or higher (or equivalent)
  • CSFM Fire Office Certification (must obtain within 1 year of employment)
  • Valid California Class B Commercial Driver’s License OR Class C with Firefighter Endorsement
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License Valid in State of California
  • CSFM Firefighter I Certification
  • Current Wilton FPD employees may apply if they meet these minimum qualifications

Desirable Qualifications:

  • CSFM Driver/Operator 1A & 1B Certifications
  • CSFM Fire Officer Certification
  • California Paramedic License
Responsibilities

Under direction of the Fire Chief, assumes command of a fire station and fire company during an assigned shift.
· Oversees operation of a fire station and supervises a company during an assigned shift;
· Assumes the incident commander role at a fire or other emergency until relieved by a superior officer;
· Directs company personnel and participates in fire suppression, lifesaving and rescue operations and all related duties;
· Supervises the maintenance of station, grounds, apparatus, and associated inventories as assigned;
· Responsible for employee safety and proper care of district equipment;
· Ensures that all personnel are informed of District policy, and reports all incidents to superiors in accordance with established policy;
· Conducts performance evaluations of assigned personnel at periodic intervals as required;
· Is accountable for the morale and discipline of employees under his/her supervision;
· Performs other related duties as assigned;
· May be assigned to a number of related positions or special projects, such as Training, Fire Prevention, Special Operations, Fleet Management or EMS program;
