JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervision of fire prevention/protection and emergency response activities including Incipient Stage firefighting personnel. Reports to Site Security Management.

  • Assures compliance with applicable Fire Prevention/ Protection Manual as well as National Fire Prevention/ Protection standards and regulations.
  • Conducts quarterly and annual review questions, as assigned, utilizing the Security Compliance System. Maintains associated Corrective Actions and Recommendations.
  • Maintains a functional understanding of Security Operations Policies and procedures.
  • Interfaces with and provides fire prevention / protection guidance to management, appropriate personnel, regulatory agencies, including local and state fire authorities.
  • Develops, implements, and supports programs for site-specific training as well as fire and safety related monthly exercises. Training may include fire suppression systems maintenance and testing, fire prevention, hot work permit issuance, emergency response planning, etc., as required by Government regulations and organization standards and guidelines.
  • Ensures that pertinent training, inspection and maintenance records are in compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Audits facilities for compliance with policies and procedures regarding fire prevention/ protection issues and ensures consistency.
  • Coordinates all impairments to fire protection systems and/or equipment to ensure that they are handled promptly and correctly.
  • May be responsible for research, obtaining quotes and entering information into purchase/procurement system to support replacement fire equipment or supplies according to procedures.
  • Where assigned (not common), may be responsible for structural firefighting operations, confined space rescue programs, and/or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
  • Participates in Loss Prevention Survey.
  • Participates in pre-emergency planning and assists in the implementation of the emergency plans with both facilities and outside emergency organizations.
  • Assures that all fire and related AIMS reports are completed and forwarded to the designated personnel. Identifies trends and ensures that appropriate corrective action is communicated and taken.
  • Attends meetings with plant management, engineering, quality assurance personnel and others regarding general inquiries from plant personnel to ensure proper fire prevention and protection requirements during new construction, planned renovations and demolition.
  • May supervise security staff in fire functions.
  • Makes recommendations on managerial methods in order to improve workflow, simplify reporting procedures or implement cost reductions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical skills needed to analyze complex data and develop reasonable analysis, appropriate conclusions and/ or innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrates planning, organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong managerial skills and the ability to carry out responsibilities under general supervision.
  • Ability to physically respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to assist in facilitating progressive change.
  • Working knowledge of card access, security, and safety systems.
  • Computer savvy (Microsoft programs).
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced fire prevention training preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Remain current with governmental regulations pertaining to fire prevention / protection and emergency response planning.
  • 2 years prior fire prevention/ protection experience or equivalent fire education required; four years preferred.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. (Any deviations from the minimum educational requirement must meet the approval of Global Security.)
