Position Overview: The Fire Fighting Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire fighting systems and equipment. This role involves ensuring that fire fighting systems are operational and meet safety standards to provide effective protection in emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Fire Fighting Technician or similar role. Familiarity with various fire fighting systems and equipment.
  • DCD & SCD card holders will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge: Understanding of fire fighting technologies, systems, and relevant codes (e.g., NFPA standards).
  • Skills: Strong mechanical and technical skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues effectively.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or training in fire fighting systems is highly desirable.
  • Attributes: Dependable, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
  • Installation: Install and configure fire fighting systems, including sprinklers, standpipes, fire hoses, and extinguishers according to industry standards and building codes.
  • Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire fighting equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulations.
  • Repairs: Identify and repair faults in fire fighting systems and equipment. Replace damaged or outdated components as necessary.
  • System Upgrades: Implement upgrades and modifications to fire fighting systems to enhance their effectiveness or comply with updated safety standards.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations to inspect and assess fire fighting systems. Provide support and recommendations for system improvements based on real-world observations.
  • Documentation: Keep detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs. Prepare reports for clients and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all fire fighting systems and services meet national and local fire safety codes and standards.
  • Customer Service: Interact with clients to provide information, training on fire fighting equipment, and address any concerns or questions.
