Fire Alarm Installation Technician Select Alarms – Hamilton, Waikato Select Alarms is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join our growing Hamilton-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a trusted and respected industry leader specialising in the design, installation, and maintenance of fire protection systems across the commercial, healthcare, and education sectors. This role is primarily based in Hamilton, with occasional travel throughout the wider Waikato. About the Role As one of our Fire Alarm Installation Technicians, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality fire system installations, repairs, and commissioning services across a diverse range of commercial projects. You’ll work alongside a skilled and supportive team while providing leadership, mentoring, and onsite guidance to junior technicians and trainees. This role also plays an important part in maintaining a strong health and safety culture across all project sites. Key Responsibilities Install, fit off, commission, and repair fire alarm systems and associated equipment Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders Identify and resolve onsite issues that may impact project delivery Carry out system testing and commissioning activities Plan and manage effective use of onsite resources Support engineering and service teams as required Work collaboratively with the wider Select Alarms team Mentor trainees and provide onsite training to less experienced technicians Lead toolbox meetings and manage project SSSP requirements Ensure health and safety procedures and documentation are completed correctly Report accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly What We’re Looking For To be successful in this role, you will have: Relevant industry qualifications Strong working knowledge of NZS 4512 fire standards Minimum 2+ years’ experience on medium to large fire installation projects Commercial and industrial fire systems experience A current full NZ Driver Licence (manual driving ability required) A strong work ethic and willingness to remain hands-on and tool-ready Leadership capability with the ability to mentor and support junior staff What We Offer Fulltime hours Overtime hours paid at time-and-a-half Competitive hourly rates Company vehicle and mobile phone Career progression and development opportunities Free use of the company gym Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Supportive team environment and great company culture Applicants Must Have the legal right to work in New Zealand Be currently residing in New Zealand Please note: Offshore applicants will not be considered for this position.
