QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in fire protection engineering or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in fire protection design software and knowledge of building codes is essential
  • PE License is preferred.

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

The Fire Protection Engineer designs and implements fire protection alarm and suppression systems to ensure safety and compliance with fire safety regulations in various environments. The Engineer will work closely with architects, engineers and builders to integrate fire protection systems into building designs during the construction phase.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform calculations and design fire alarm, fire suppression, and life safety systems.
  • Prepare specifications based on design
  • Review design drawings in relation to plans and specifications
  • Analyze potential fire hazards in buildings and new designs providing recommendations
  • Ensure all fire protections systems meet local, state, and federal fire codes and standards.
  • Stay updated on fire safety technologies and techniques, conducting experiments and field tests to evaluate new systems and materials.
  • Meet with owners and understand project requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Travel: 10%, to project sites for surveys and meetings.
