JOB SUMMARY

Coordinate components of the Fire Safety Program across Georgia Tech properties, including statewide research and extension facilities. Evaluate new construction and renovation plans for compliance with safety codes and state laws. Oversee plan review and permitting program. Administer contracts related to the maintenance and installation of safety equipment. Coordinate fire emergency operations with local firefighting agencies. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Fire Marshal, Facilities and Capital Planning staff and management, all campus departments, and local and state firefighting agencies. This position typically will advise and counsel: Georgia Tech community this position will supervise: NA

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The job requires one who is task and detail toiiveted; flexible, and able to perform multiple, various tasks concurrivetly. Excellivet communications skills are required as well as the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems that are varied Co nature.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Four to five years of job related experience

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Fire Protection Specialist Preferred skills include related knowledge of a higher education environment

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or Fire Protection Engineering

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Five to seven years of job related experience

SKILLS

This job requires knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes governing fire safety, knowledge of principles and practices of life safety codes and fire safety, knowledge of hazardous materials spill response procedures, ability to review construction plans and documents, and experience conducting investigations related to fire safety.
