Description

FIRE ENGINEER

We are seeking a Fire Engineer to provide design and project coordination support within our specialist Fire Safety Division, part of our established Health & Safety Consultancy. You will collaborate with a wide range of clients and internal teams across all RIBA stages, including Fire Safety, PD/BR, and PD/CDM.
Our consultancy has been delivering safety management and advisory services for over 20 years. We pride ourselves on offering expert guidance that not only ensures compliance with regulations but also takes a proactive, solution-focused approach to client needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Fire Engineering or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Membership (or working towards membership) of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or similar professional body.

We are looking for candidates with experience in some or all of the following:

  • Preparing client fee proposals and quotations.
  • Producing Fire Strategy reports.
  • Providing technical fire safety advice across a range of building types, with a focus on high-rise residential developments.
  • Supporting compliance with Building Regulations (e.g. Approved Document B) and wider fire safety legislation.
  • Advising on duties under the Building Safety Act.
  • Reviewing technical documentation (plans, elevations, design details, etc.).
  • Familiarity with relevant British Standards such as BS 9991 and BS 9999.
  • Exposure to or understanding of CFD and CEM modelling.
  • Attending and contributing to client and design team meetings.
  • Prior experience in a fire consultancy or multidisciplinary environment
