Description
The Division of the State Fire Marshal keeps Ohioans safe when they are at home, and out and about. This includes modernizing and enforcing the Ohio Fire Code; training and certifying firefighters; teaching fire prevention and safety education to businesses, industry, schools and the public; investigating the origin and cause of fires and explosions; and regulating and licensing fireworks companies, underground storage tanks and other fire-related industries. Supervises Fire Training officers to ensure they are reviewing, updating, and developing programs that have been assigned; reviews & updates existing recruit firefighter, & Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Live Fire Instructor, Instructor, and any DPS certification provider courses to ensure programs are compliant with recognized training standards As the ODPS program director, ensure compliance with Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) chapter 4765 & all rules & laws applicable to the administration of all EMS, firefighter, fire safety inspector, live fire, & instructor courses. Instructs classes; assists in planning, development, revision & coordination of curriculum; schedules programs & advises on budgetary needs for the Academy. Assists in the development of course materials, catalogs & brochures; reviews, analyzes & evaluates training programs, methods & materials; assists in preparation of policy & procedure guidelines; analyzes needs & makes recommendations for the purchase of equipment & materials ON campus- Full-time at Reynoldsburg, Ohio Certified as Public Safety Instructor in firefighting by Department of Public Safety pursuant to Section 4765.55 of Revised Code; 6 mos. exp. as Fire Training Officer 2, 26562, or in teaching advanced courses in firefighting in another governmental agency or instructional setting; valid driver's license. If assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of Revised Code, applicants must also have commercial driver's license. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated certificate.
