JOB SUMMARY

The Firefighter/Paramedic Responds to emergency fire, rescue, medical, and other incidents as well as provides support functions including vehicle and equipment and facility maintenance. The Firefighter/Paramedic is responsible for records and reporting duties as well as emergency treatment including but not limited to medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, and inter-facility transports. In addition, the position candidate plans, organizes, directs, and controls fire/rescue and medical service functions within applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations. Since Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue places a high value on community risk reduction and public education, the candidate position will also assist in performing community education including fire prevention and code enforcement. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong competency with the position’s core qualifications, as well as be professional, motivated, and high functioning in a team environment.   • Current CDFPC Certifications.
  • Colorado Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • CDFPC Firefighter I
  • CDFPC Hazardous Materials Operations Level

Responsibilities

POSITION DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Responds to all emergency incidents including but not limited to providing fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services for the District.
  • Responds to non-emergency service calls in the District.
  • Competently operates and passes clearance testing on all District support, emergency medical, pumping and aerial vehicles/apparatus under both emergency and non-emergency conditions.
  • Acts as a first responder to all types of emergency situations.
  • Ensures all equipment is fully prepared and functional at all times.
  • Performs and documents general maintenance and upkeep of apparatus, equipment and District facilities.
  • Performs and participates in pre-fire planning, fire prevention inspections, fire prevention and public fire safety education.
  • Prepares various reports and other documentation both written and verbal.
  • Performs other District duties as assigned.
