The FireSmart Coordinator is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Fort Nelson First Nation’s FireSmart Program. This role leads wildfire risk reduction initiatives by coordinating public education, community engagement, fuel mitigation activities, and grant administration in alignment with FireSmart Canada and provincial guidelines. The Coordinator conducts site assessments, develops outreach materials, organizes events and training sessions, and collaborates with stakeholders such as BC Wildfire Service and local fire departments to improve community wildfire preparedness, while maintaining accurate records and reporting on program progress.
