The necessary skills and abilities

  • Possess a vocational studies diploma (DEP) in cooking;
  • Have a minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a "cafeteria" type kitchen;
  • Experience in remote areas will be considered an asset;
  • Proficiency in English will be considered an asset;
  • Any combination of education and experience deemed equivalent will be considered.

Working conditions and benefits

  • Transportation is not provided by the employer. You must be able to get to the truck stop at km 381 (James Bay) by vehicle or bus;
  • Start date as soon as possible;
  • Work schedule of 21 days of work followed by 21 days of leave;
  • Starting hourly rate of $25.64;
  • Group insurance after 63 days worked;
  • Pension fund after 4,500 hours worked;
  • Non-taxable transportation allowance of $220.15 every two weeks ($5,724/year);
  • Travel time (round trip) paid at $20.38 per actual hour of travel from home to workplace (maximum 8 hours);
  • Accommodation and meals provided by the employer.

The mandate

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established procedures and menus, in collaboration with members of the kitchen team;
  • Coordinate the work of the kitchen team members, direct and assign daily tasks;
  • To provide quality service while respecting service rules;
  • Ensure the cleanliness of work areas, equipment, utensils, the cold room and refrigerators;
  • Assume responsibility for taking inventory;
  • Assist in unpacking and arranging the goods received;
  • Update the control measure tracking sheets (refrigerator temperature, food expiry dates, rotation dates, etc.);
  • Ensure that the kitchen equipment is functioning properly.
