Be the voice and visionary behind growing a culturally safe, future focused First Nations workforce
About Uniting
At Uniting NSW.ACT, we believe in the power of people to make real change. We’re a values-led organisation with a deep commitment to social justice, inclusion, and reconciliation. Every day, we walk alongside individuals, families and communities, especially those experiencing vulnerability with compassion, respect and bold ambition.
We’re proud to introduce a new role – First Nations Workforce Acquisition Lead. Designed to drive meaningful and lasting change. This is more than just a job, it’s your chance to lead a movement within one of NSW and ACT’s largest not-for-profit organisations.
We’re seeking a cultural connector, strategic thinker, and advocate for change. Someone ready to shape how we attract, support and elevate First Nations talent across all levels of Uniting. If you’re passionate about First Nations empowerment, community partnerships, and reimagining the future of recruitment – we want to hear from you.
This is an identified First Nations position. To be eligible, applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. This requirement is in line with Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
About the Role
As the first person to step into this newly established role, your voice, experience, and leadership will set the tone for what’s possible. As Uniting’s First Nations Workforce Acquisition Lead, you’ll be instrumental in shaping our vision to grow a strong, supported, and sustainable First Nations workforce.
This is your chance to drive change from day one to build programs, forge partnerships, and create culturally safe pathways that will have a lasting impact for years to come.
Responsibilities
Design and implement targeted workforce programs—traineeships, cadetships, internships, and graduate pathways that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Build trusted partnerships with education providers, job networks, and Aboriginal community-controlled organisations
Champion inclusive recruitment practices, working closely with hiring managers and the TA team to embed culturally responsive approaches across Uniting
Represent Uniting proudly, engaging with community, attending expos, and being a visible leader in the First Nations employment space
Monitor, report, and advise on workforce metrics to influence ongoing strategy, shape policy, and drive accountability
This is a rare opportunity to create something meaningful and lasting—to bring your ideas, your connections, and your cultural insight into a space where they will truly shape the future.
