ABOUT YOU:

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in procurement, business, HR Operations or relevant and transferable experiences and learning agility
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check
  • Hold a current driver license
  • Solid experience in working with First Peoples businesses, communities and organisations, particularly in Victoria
  • Excellent cultural awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, challenges and achievements, and ability to work effectively with different Aboriginal organisations
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and delivery of First Nations social procurement strategies
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of cultural safety and cultural awareness programs

Responsibilities

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our First Peoples Engagement team as the First Peoples Engagement Advisor in a full-time capacity based either at our CBD Head Office or potentially at one of our regional depots across Victoria.
This role will work directly to deliver our Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) and associated strategies. A key part of this will be to develop positive, respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with First Peoples.
In addition, this role will support in the delivery of our Learning and Development Strategy, including with expanding our workforce’s knowledge, understanding and respect of Victoria’s First Peoples’ cultures, histories, heritage, connection to Country, and inherent rights as First Peoples. Furthermore, the role will support our Social Procurement Strategy which will focus on enhancing economic opportunities to strengthen First Peoples communities across CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a person who has extensive experience in working with First Peoples businesses, communities and organisations, particularly in Victoria and experience in designing and delivering First Peoples strategies and policies. Experience in delivering cultural safety and cultural awareness programs will also be highly valued.
