The Health Informatics Institute (HII) is comprised of approximately 150 members consisting of biostatisticians and bioinformaticians; epidemiologists; software, data, and systems engineers; solution and data architects; laboratory and clinical research administrators; and administrative staff. Established in 2004 as the Pediatric Epidemiology center, the annual budget of the institute currently exceeds $50 million, primarily in NIH funding. Faculty areas of expertise include biostatistics applied to pre-clinical, clinical, observational, and population health research; biomedical and clinical informatics; and statistical genetics and genomics. Members are engaged in research focused on the prevention of diabetes and other autoimmune diseases, cancer prevention and control, genetic disorders, and an expanding list of rare diseases.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the HII Director, project leads, and Faculty with all aspects of the financial and general administration of the Health Informatics Institute (HII), including analyze financial and accounting data and keep HII Director and faculty investigators informed on the financial and budget status. This individual will provide high level coordination of grant / contract post award financial management; use professional accounting and financial analysis methods to variety of research projects and other accounts. Compliance with both the terms and conditions of the specific contract, and compliance with Federal, State, and University’s regulatory requirements. This position will provide financial information through budget projections and financial forecasting to help the HII Director and project leads in financial planning, develop / update financial reports, statements and spreadsheets for use by management in determining current and future financial position.
Manages and updates monthly financial budget, expenditure and projection reports for assisting the HII Director, project leads, and faculty investigators managing and planning current and long-term HII financial and HII projects and making decisions, that including Sponsored Research projects, EBA accounts, E&G accounts, RIA accounts, USF Foundation accounts, Research Foundation accounts, OCR accounts, etc
Releases and monitors the HII’s contracts and grants budgets for new awards, amendments, supplements, etc. Tracks HII’s contracts and grants RSAs. Tracking HII contracts and grants status.Runs routine reports and queries related to expenditures (actual vs. budget). Example: Utilizes FAST and Finance Mart to generate routine fiscal and budget related reports. Monitors and tracks non-payroll and payroll expenditures (i.e., using commitment control, RSA, spreadsheets, etc.) and notifies management of potential deficits before they occur.
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or other field directly related to the position’s specific responsibilities and two years of fiscal related work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in no specific required field and three years of fiscal related work experience; or six years fiscal related work experience.
