JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Fiscal Technician Assistant will provide primary support for the Parham Road Campus Business Office by assisting with payment transactions relating to the registration of credit students and the receipt of tuition payments. The Fiscal Technician Assistant will also process daily bank deposit accounting entries into the automated accounting system. The Fiscal Technician Assistant may also be required to serve as a back-up to our other campuses’ Business Offices when needed.
The position will serve as the first point of contact for students/visitors request associated with the students account information and the Business Office. This position requires weekday hours and, specifically, the ability to close at least twice a week. This means the employee will be expected to work during the week and also be available to close the workplace or area of responsibility on at least two weekday evenings. Extended hours/weekend hours during registration may be required. Other duties as assigned by the Business Office when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of cashiering duties and principles along with some knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience working with students in higher education or general knowledge about a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze fiscal transactions for conformity with established procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high volume customer service and/or academic fiscal or student environment.
  • Working knowledge of automated cashiering and accounting systems. Experience with Student Information System.
