Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) has an exciting opportunities available for Fisheries Assistant Tuna Chart project which would be well suited to those who have an interest in protecting, managing and conserving Ireland’s inland fisheries and sea angling resources.
Inland Fisheries Ireland carries out applied fisheries research to assess the conservation status of Ireland’s fish species, to monitor fisheries stocks in inland and coastal waters and to explore environmental issues that have an impact on fish and their habitats.The role of the Seasonal Fisheries Assistant mainly involves assisting the Senior Research Officers and their teams in the collection, ordering and analysis of relevant biological and physical data in the aquatic environment.
Fisheries Assistant Tuna Chart is also involved in assisting with data entry and preliminary analysis of biological and physical data such as preparing charts, graphs, and figures for further analysis.
There will be an element of travelling across Ireland for parts of the contract and conducting field work in all weather conditions. Field work will be influenced by weather; consequently, the position will require flexibility regarding working hours, particularly during the summer months. Transport will be provided for field duties.
Candidates should be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and on/near bodies of water.
The positions will be based in IFI’s Head Office in Citywest, Dublin and travelling on a daily/weekly basis (Monday to Friday) at times during the field season may be a requirement
