The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

We are a team of around 500 people and combine our Newcastle upon Tyne and London operations with a local presence around the English coastline in Brixham, Beverley,Harwich, Hastings, Lowestoft, North Shields, Hayle, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Preston, Scarborough, Shoreham and Whitehaven.
We also have colleagues based in Defra offices, including Bristol, Preston and York.
Please note this role is to be located in the South East or East Region.
Job description
The Fisheries Data Service Team is currently made up of 12 Officers, 4 Managers and 1 Senior Manager and we are spread out across the MMO Coastal Offices.
We are a busy team and have a very varied role. We act as a support function to the wider Operations Directorate, and we are the first point of contact for Stakeholders via phone, email, and face to face in the local offices. No two days are the same, we can be collating fishing data and accurately entering onto our systems, we can be analysing activity data, purchasing corporate clothing or Personal Protective Clothing for our Enforcement Teams.
This is an entry level management role and is a great development opportunity for those looking to take the first step in people management responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be an effective leader and responsible for managing a small team of admin officers based across the South East (Shoreham & Hastings) and East (Lowestoft). You will be responsible for their direct line management and will manage and develop the team to ensure that all local activity operates to a consistent national framework and plan. You will support your team to ensure that they accurately undertake and prioritise their tasks. You will also work closely with local MMO coastal enforcement teams and marine stakeholders and provide support to the Senior Manager and the wider Operations Directorate. Your will oversee and maintain the efficient delivery of the teams functions including fishing activity data entry, procurement, Registered Buyers and Sellers, Catch Recording and data analysis. Full training on all the team roles will be given.
