FIT Tester

at  London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust

The post holder will be responsible for providing a fit testing service for all staff that may be required to wear tight fitting respirators (re-usable or single use) as part of the job. The post holder will be fully trained for both the qualitative and quantitative fit testing methods. The post holder will be responsible for providing high level of comprehensive support to staff being mask fit tested, including:
Training on ‘donning’ and ‘doffing’ personal protective equipment
Adequacy and suitability of tight-fitting masks
Training on how to use face masks safely
Guidance on correct handling and storage of PPE
Guidance on when to use respirators
The post holder will need to have excellent customer care to provide professional, reliable and consistent service. The post holder will develop and maintain relationships with staff from all areas to monitor and deliver the programme; this will also require excellent organisation skills for administration and record keeping.
The post holder ensures staff compliance with HSE INDG 479 by coordinating Trust-wide fit testing for respirators (reusable and disposable masks) using qualitative and quantitative methods. Key responsibilities include:
Organizing and prioritizing fit testing across wards and directorates.
Recording and reviewing fit testing outcomes to identify staff needing retesting or testing on new masks.
Maintaining fit testing equipment and ensuring sufficient stock.
Training staff on mask fit checking and supporting Infection Control initiatives.
Performing administrative tasks and other delegated duties as required.
This role is vital for staff safety and infection control across the Trust.
