Generous Employee Referral Program and more. POSITION SUMMARY We seek a friendly and motivating Fitness Assistant to join the Resident Lifestyle team at our premier retirement communities. The Fitness Assistant is responsible for developing, leading, and promoting engaging fitness and wellness programs that support the health, mobility, and overall well-being of our residents. This role plays a key part in fostering an active lifestyle within the community by offering a variety of group classes and individualized exercise programs tailored to seniors’ unique needs and abilities. The Fitness Instructor motivates and encourages residents to participate, ensuring all activities are conducted in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment that aligns with the community’s mission to enhance quality of life. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, coordinate, and lead a variety of fitness and wellness programs, including group classes and individual exercise sessions. Adapt exercises and routines to accommodate varying levels of mobility, strength, and health conditions. Motivate residents to engage in regular physical activity by creating an inclusive and encouraging environment. Monitor participants during activities to ensure proper form, safety, and comfort. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Life Enrichment, Nursing) to support residents’ overall wellness goals. Maintain fitness equipment and activity spaces in a clean, safe, and functional condition. Track resident participation and provide feedback to support individual progress and program improvement. Stay informed about best practices for senior fitness and integrate new techniques or classes as needed. Assist in promoting fitness programs through community communications and events. Assist the Resident Lifestyle Director as necessary. Requirements CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Fitness-related education and/or experience. Personal Trainer Certification preferred. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Experience, Competencies, and Skills: Previous experience as a fitness instructor, personal trainer, or wellness coach, ideally working with older adults. Working knowledge of various computer systems, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong understanding of safe exercise techniques and modifications appropriate for seniors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage participants. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with the community’s wellness and activities teams. Ability to lift, move, and demonstrate exercises and equipment as required. Flexible schedule to support programs and activities, including occasional weekends or special events.
