Work Experience: Intermediate (Developing Skills) Work Experience Description: Ideal for students who have begun gaining relevant experience and are building their skills through internships, part-time jobs, or significant projects. Typically aimed at sophomores or juniors who have completed a combination of introductory and advanced coursework. ᅟ This is NOT an entry level position. Experience and/or certification in teaching fitness classes (e.g., High-Fit, Zumba, Swim Aerobics, Step, etc.) Job Summary This position is to assist in development, coordination and implementation of health and wellness for the Seasider Activities program at Brigham Young University - Hawaii. Also, this position will assist with maintaining and increasing student participation amongst Fitness Classes, lead and instruct specific Fitness Classes. Primary Responsibilities Design and lead a variety of fitness classes (e.g., Yoga, High Fit, ZUMBA, Swim Aerobics, etc.) Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workout environment Promote the other fitness programs and special events to encourage participation Assists in the development and growth of student participation in Seasider Activities through developing and maintaining interdepartmental relationships with other key persons. Assists in the development of event planning and works well unsupervised. Assists in creating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and partnerships. Ensures students are in honor code and ensures safety of students. Works various hours of the day depending on each event and activity. Reports directly to the Student Supervisor/or SSA coordinator. Attends Weekly Team Meetings with Supervisor and the team. Delegates and Monitors information/advertising/promotions filtered down to the Programmers ensuring updated accuracy at all times. Performs other duties as assigned. Education High School (Required) Work Experience Has a current American Red Cross CPR & AED Certification Strong experience in being a Fitness Instructor for yoga, High Fit, Zumba, or Swim Aerobics REQUIRED Physical Demands Frequent standing and walking, and regularly lifting, loading, and moving up to 10 pounds, occasionally moving up to 50 pounds.
