Description The fitness instructor, through collaboration with the staff, will help promote the health and well-being of our senior population. This position is responsible for implementation of Title IIIB Wellness Program and the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program, to include 60-minute exercise classes, health screenings, health education and all required record keeping. Tuesday / Thursday - Slidell at 9am & Pearl River at 10:30am. Requirements The successful candidate will bring a track record of excellence in personal trainer positions, ideally working with the elderly population. Conduct exercise classes at senior centers to include, but not limited to low impact aerobics, balance training, and chair exercises. Lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes. Design creative workouts using equipment such as resistance bands, ankle weights, dumbbells, stability balls, and more. Encourage participants of all fitness levels to stay active and consistent. Provide modifications to meet individual needs and abilities. Create a welcoming and supportive class environment. Ensure proper form and safety throughout each session Perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalent. 2-3 years prior experience involving the delivery of social services or wellness programs to the public. Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites. Knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of the elderly.
