Seasonal Part-Time Position Job Summary The Fitness Instructor delivers safe, engaging, and personalized fitness services for Members and Guests across the Club’s Sports & Fitness facilities (e.g., Fitness Center, courts, poolside activities). Services include private training, small group sessions, equipment orientations, and support for seasonal programs and events. Instructors model RCCC’s Guiding Principles: Deliver Exceptional Quality, Make Things Easy, Create Connection, Make It Fun, Embrace All Foley Brands, and maintain a clean, welcoming, safety-first environment. Fitness Instructors are responsible for effectively completing the responsibilities below while maintaining constant communication with Management regarding progress and setbacks. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Member Experience & Service Greet Members and Guests warmly; learn names and preferences to create a personalized, concierge-level experience. Conduct fitness assessments, equipment orientations, and individualized programming aligned to goals, abilities, and restrictions. Lead one-on-one and small group sessions (e.g., strength, mobility, core, stretch, low-impact conditioning, functional training). Proactively circulate the Fitness Center and activity spaces to anticipate needs, coach safe form, and foster an inclusive environment. Protect Member privacy and uphold RCCC professionalism at all times. Instruction, Programming & Results Design safe, progressive programs (strength, mobility, balance, endurance; golf movement literacy a plus). Offer clear demonstrations, form cues, and accessible modifications for all ability levels. Track attendance, session notes, and Member progress; share updates and next steps with the Sports & Fitness Manager. Support seasonal Sports & Fitness activations (e.g., morning stretch, family fitness, junior intros, recovery clinics) and special requests. Safety, Cleanliness & Facility Care Enforce safe use guidelines for equipment and Sports & Fitness spaces; reinforce posted rules and RCCC policies. Execute opening/closing checklists: sanitize high-touch surfaces, restock towels/amenities, stage equipment, and reset spaces between sessions. Report maintenance needs immediately; remove and tag equipment deemed out of service per policy. Follow RCCC incident procedures and complete required reports within stated timelines. Teamwork & Communication Partner closely with Sports & Fitness, Golf, Recreation/Activities, and other departments to create seamless Club experiences. Communicate schedule changes, Member feedback, safety issues, and supply needs to Management promptly. Attend required meetings/trainings; maintain role-related certifications and share best practices with peers. Administration Manage session scheduling, confirmations, and same-day adjustments as directed. Accurately record time worked and sessions delivered; follow RCCC cashless/account handling and documentation practices. Safeguard RCCC confidential information and Member data. Requirements Qualifications Required Prior experience instructing individual or small group fitness in a gym, studio, resort, or private club setting. Friendly, professional communication; strong service and coaching mindset. Current CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). Practical knowledge of exercise science fundamentals, progressions, and safe modifications. Preferred National certification (e.g., ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, or comparable). Experience with mobility/correctives Hospitality/club/resort experience; comfort supporting clinics, family sessions, and pop-up programming. Schedule & Work Environment Variable schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak season. Work performed in Sports & Fitness areas (Fitness Center, courts), select Club venues, and occasional outdoor settings. Seasonality may require flexible hours and additional shifts based on Member demand. Physical Requirements Prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, and kneeling. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs (e.g., weights, racks, bins) and safely move larger items with assistance. Demonstrate exercises (body weight and light to moderate resistance) and provide non-intrusive physical cueing consistent with RCCC boundaries. Vision, hearing, and speech sufficient to observe the floor, monitor technique, and communicate clearly with Members and Guests. Ability to climb and descend stairs and navigate all Sports & Fitness areas throughout the shift. Work environment may include exposure to cleaning agents/disinfectants and variable temperatures/ambient noise. Working Environment Indoor & Outdoor Settings: Role includes both climate-controlled spaces and outdoor activations (e.g., courts, lawns, walking paths, poolside). Weather & Heat Exposure: Expect sun exposure, heat, and occasional wind/cold depending on season/time of day. Peak season sessions may occur in high temperature conditions; hydrate regularly and use shade/sunscreen per RCCC guidelines. Terrain & Surfaces: Movement across uneven terrain, steps, and pool decks; maintain proper footwear and caution around wet or slick surfaces. Air & Allergens: Potential exposure to dust, pollen, smoke, and pool chemicals/humidity near aquatic areas. Noise & Activity: Moderate ambient noise from music, equipment, and concurrent activities; use clear vocal cues and safe spacing. Equipment Handling: Frequent setup/teardown and relocation of fitness equipment (mats, dumbbells, racks, bands). Safety Practices: Follow RCCC safety procedures (hydration/rest breaks, UV protection, radio/call tree use, incident reporting) during all outdoor or heat-exposed sessions.
