Description The YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and engaging Fitness Program Instructors to lead youth and community-based programs in the following program areas: Ballet; Hip Hop; Gymnastics; and Theatre / Creative Movement. Under the guidance of the Senior Program Director, the Fitness Instructor is responsible for creating safe, age-appropriate, and engaging lesson plans, fostering a welcoming atmosphere, and building positive relationships with participants and families. The Fitness Instructor also supports and promotes the organization’s mission by embodying the core values of Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, Respect, and Faith, while demonstrating cause-driven leadership through the YMCA Leadership Competencies: Mission Advancement, Collaboration, Operational Effectiveness, and Personal Growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead engaging, age-appropriate instruction for program participants. Provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all program participants. Plan and deliver classes that are enjoyable, well-structured, and developmentally appropriate. Prepare participants to perform in two program showcases per year, as applicable. Foster group cooperation, confidence, and positive behavior in a class setting. Adapt instruction to match participants’ individual strengths, assess challenges, and provide guidance for improvement. Supervise participants during on-site and off-site programming, ensuring safety at all times. Maintain accurate and timely program documentation, including lesson plans, attendance records, reports, and incident/accident forms. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly program space, including proper storage and care of equipment. Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents/guardians, staff, and YMCA members. Assist with recruitment and promotion of youth programs, as needed. Communicate promptly with the immediate supervisor regarding participant needs, concerns, or facility issues. Bilingual skills a plus. CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
