Description

The RA Centre is looking for a dynamic trainer to work within our team of fitness specialists to provide Fitness classes, personal training, gym monitoring and fitness expertise to our members.

REQUIREMENTS;

  • As a Personal trainer: a Degree, diploma or valid certification from an accredited, recognized institution and /or association in the areas of Exercise Science, Physiology or Kinesiology, or valid Personal Training Certification from an accredited institution or association.
  • As a Trainer, Certification from a recognized organization in the Field of Fitness, Health and Wellness such as the YMCA, CANFITPRO, or be in the process of completing a Health and Fitness Certification Program at a registered College or possess a Fitness Certification with a recognized Fitness Organization such as CANFITPRO.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR level C, with AED certification,
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record check; and
  • Proficiency in both official languages is an asset,
  • Proven ability to interact with tact and professionalism on a one-on-one basis with all RA patrons,
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a team member,
  • Must possess an excellent telephone manner, verbal and written communication and organizational skills, customer service and interpersonal skills,
  • Previous experience in a Personal Trainer Role for another organization or managing your own personal business is a definite asset; and
  • Candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job. Essential physical requirements include the ability to stand for 100% of the shift, jump, jog and lift a weight for demonstration purposes. Must be able to work in different physical positions required to provide guidance in a class such as push, pull, reach, bend, twist, squat and crouch. Manual dexterity required to operate a laptop.

Responsibilities

Providing personal training services to RA clients by designing safe and effective fitness programs for individuals ensuring they are adaptive to the unique needs and abilities of each client, and managing your own personal training schedule with clients including record keeping and session tracking procedures.
Providing instructional support to the group fitness and wellness programs by teaching classes as needed, while maintaining valid group fitness certification.
Understanding and executing administrative duties related to membership management including: assisting with the recruitment of new members to meet or exceed the monthly membership targets; membership sales and registration, issuing access cards; maintaining a workout card system; maintaining membership data and Par-Q responses.
Developing a positive rapport with the members, and clients by providing ongoing support including guidance on safe exercise techniques; individual program consultations (one per year); responding to members concerns in the appropriate manner, instructing members on safe strength training principles and technique, and use of strength training equipment.
Providing orientations to members including the review of operational information; health rate monitoring; proper use of equipment; safe exercise planning,
Assisting in the organization and delivery of fitness and wellness seminars, workshop, events and marketing promotions.
Ensuring the facility and equipment meets established safety and cleanliness standards. Ensures that facilities for wellness programs are clean, safe and set-up correctly, and that all equipment is put away at the end of program.
Representing LifeFIT Canada and the RA Centre in a professional manner and developing a positive rapport with the members, staff and the fitness team.
