The Role
Are you a skilled Fitter and Turner ready for a fresh opportunity in a stunning coastal location?
Livingstone Shire Council is on the lookout for a trade-qualified Fitter and Turner to join our Procurement and Fleet Services team in a permanent full-time role. If you’re passionate about precision, safety, and working in a role where you can make a real difference to not only the organisation but also the community, we want to hear from you!
Reporting to the Supervisor Fleet, this hands-on position involves a wide range of mechanical maintenance and construction tasks, ensuring our plant, equipment, and fixed assets are operating at their best. You’ll work both independently and within a tight-knit, multi-skilled team to keep things running smoothly.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Recognised trade qualifications as a Mechanical Fitter and Turner and/or other related trade or industry skills;
  • A current MR drivers licence;
  • Proven experience in installing, repairing, maintaining, testing and fault-finding complex mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including interpreting system diagrams and technical manuals; and
  • Skills in welding and machining – MIG, TIG, Stick, Plasma Cutter, Oxy Acetylene, and lathe operation.

The successful candidate will have a safety-first mindset and willingness to lead by example through safe work practices and proactive reporting.
