FITTER (HGV FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER)

An essential part of our transport team, you will be responsible for the maintenance of our fleet of vehicles (ranging from small vans to HGVs). You will need to be organised and have good attention to detail. The ideal candidate is someone that holds a real passion for all thing automotive, whilst taking a proactive approach to manual fault finding through to resolution.
Position: Fitter (also known as a HGV Field Service Engineer)
Location: Based out of the Chertsey depot (Chertsey, Surrey) but travelling across all of the Waste Network Services catchment
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 Hours
Salary: £50,000 per annum (made up of basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for a wide variety vehicle related maintenance including but not limited to:

Hydraulic and High Pressure Jetting Systems

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, including pumps, hoses, and control mechanisms.
  • Specialize in maintaining and troubleshooting high-pressure jetting systems used in drain and sewer cleaning operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure the optimal performance of hydraulic and jetting equipment.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the company’s fleet of vehicles, with a particular emphasis on hydraulic components.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic and high-pressure jetting system issues to ensure timely and effective repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on hydraulic systems to maximize reliability.

Repair and Troubleshooting

  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies involving hydraulic and jetting systems, providing on-site repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and rectify technical issues related to high-pressure equipment.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to analyse recurring problems and implement preventive measures.

Legislation and Compliance

  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and industry standards related to hydraulic systems and high-pressure jetting operations.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Implement and promote safe working practices among the team in accordancewith legal requirements.
