Qualifications The Repair Fitter will perform duties in a safe manner, to include, but not limited to various barge repairs, heating and cutting determined from inspections. Is safety minded and pushes safety throughout the shop. Ensures all employees are compliant with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations. Is a qualified fitter as per VLS procedures or can be soon. Fits and fabricates materials for barges or special projects. Continuously completes tasks in the specified amount of time. Assist supervisor and/or leadman in training and direction of assigned subordinates. Removes and fits parts according to regulations and specifications. Instructs others in welding techniques and safety. Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes. Preheat workpiece with hand torch. Positions and clamps workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture. Safely uses torch for cutting metal. Understands and complies with all safety regulations.
Responsibilities
The Repair Fitter will execute various barge repairs, including heating and cutting tasks identified during inspections, while ensuring all work is performed safely and in compliance with regulations. Responsibilities also include fitting and fabricating materials for barges or special projects, removing and fitting parts according to specifications, and instructing others in welding techniques and safety.
