Te Tūranga / About the role We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Fitters Mate to join our Engineering team at Silver Fern Farms Finegand, one of New Zealand’s leading beef and lamb processing sites. In this role, you’ll support our mechanical trades teams, help keep production running smoothly, and play a key part in our preventative maintenance and lubrication programmes. If you’re hands-on, organised, and keen to grow your technical skills in a supportive environment, this could be the opportunity for you. Shifts are 9 hour days in between the hours of 6am-5pm dependent of processing requirements. Te Mahi / Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: • Support the mechanical trades team across processing departments, helping ensure equipment is ready for the production day. • Carry out pre-op duties to a high standard and on time. • Maintain lubrication schedules and make small repairs to lubrication systems, ensuring all work is documented and completed on time. • Assist with plumbing support tasks alongside the on-site plumber (training provided). • Keep workshops clean and tidy, ensuring an efficient and safe workspace. • Carry out work orders assigned through our CMMS (MEX) and complete accurate record keeping. • Proactively identify issues, reporting unusual noises, mechanical looseness, or safety concerns immediately. • Contribute to continuous improvement, always looking for ways to enhance plant performance.
