Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Asset Accountant to manage and maintain our real estate portfolio and related assets. This role is responsible for recording acquisitions and disposals, tracking various construction/development jobs, placing assets in service, calculating depreciation, and ensuring accurate reporting in compliance with accounting standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Input of fixed assets purchased and constructed into asset management systems · Recording entries for sales and disposals of fixed assets in accounting system. · Maintenance of fixed assets depreciation schedules. · Reconciliation of asset details between the accounting system and asset management system. · Track company expenditures for fixed assets/construction jobs in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations. · Monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets. · Review invoices processed, ensure accurate coding and capitalize assets per capital policy. · Account Reconciliations. · Assists with internal and external audits. · Responsible for full Fixed Assets Month-end closing cycle. · Monthly Journal entries and accruals. · Perform additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned. · Complete monthly and quarterly capital expenditure reporting Requirements EDUCATION AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: · Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, preferred · 3+ years of Fixed Assets accounting experience · Thorough understanding of fixed asset accounting, tracking and processes. · MRI or Real Estate Accounting software experience, a plus · Construction related experience in any industry required SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: · Working knowledge of financial terms and principles including knowledge of accrual accounting methods. Ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). · Working knowledge of calculating depreciation and amortization of various asset classes. · Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe. · Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities with a high attention to detail. · Ability to handle multiple projects, changing priorities and demanding, time-sensitive, workload(s). · Ability to receive general work supervision/be self-managed/work independently. · Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to internal and external customers. · Ability to keep information and internal communications confidential. · Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time/constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (ex. a calculator, copy machine, computer printer) or, by request, be provided reasonable accommodations to perform the essential functions of the position.
