Description
JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent, in accordance with the law, is responsible for the operation and general maintenance of the building’s stationary machinery and mechanical equipment, such as steam boilers, air compressors, and ventilation units. He or she monitors meters, pressure gauges, and control systems, and performs any necessary adjustments and repairs. They maintain performance records and participate in the fire brigade.
Responsabilities
• Perform maintenance on machinery (boilers, chillers, fans, pumps, compressors) and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications
• Conduct inspections and assessments and prepare reports on various types of equipment
• Respond to service calls and emergency situations
• Prepare required materials and submit requests for materials and equipment for approval
• Monitor building temperature and air quality
• Track electricity, natural gas, and heating oil consumption
• Operate and monitor heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
• Schedule and communicate mechanical maintenance and equipment downtime
• When necessary, cover for a coworker during their shift
• Act as a shift partner when needed
Required Qualifications
• Be authorized to work in Canada
• Hold a vocational diploma (D.E.P.) in stationary machinery mechanics
• Experience in the healthcare or research field is a plus
• Have computer skills (building management and maintenance software, Microsoft Office suite)
• Be fluent in French and English, both spoken and written
• Knowledge of centralized building control systems (Régulvar Delta system) is a plus
• Have a good understanding of pneumatic and digital control systems
• Be available to work evening and weekend shifts according to a pre-established schedule
• Hold a valid Class 4 (power generation) and Class B (refrigeration equipment) stationary machinery mechanic certificate, as well as Halocarbon certification
