JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Fleet Compliance Officer to ensure our fleet operations within the utilities sector remain fully compliant with UK transport legislation, safety standards, and internal policies. This role supports the safe and efficient management of vehicles and drivers, working closely with operational teams to maintain regulatory compliance and readiness for audits.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in fleet compliance, transport management, or logistics within the utilities or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK transport laws and compliance frameworks (DVSA, O Licence, FORS, CPC, etc.).
  • Experience with vehicle defect reporting and maintenance coordination is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage large volumes of compliance data and documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office and fleet management systems (e.g., Tachograph analysis, telematics platforms).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification (National or International) is desirable.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with UK transport regulations including DVSA, O Licence, Driver CPC, and Working Time Directive.
  • Maintain and audit records for vehicle maintenance, MOTs, inspections, insurance, road tax, and servicing schedules.
  • Oversee driver compliance including licence checks (via DVLA), Driver CPC training, tachograph data management, and health & safety adherence.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with company fleet policies, ensuring consistent standards across all utility operations.
  • Assist with the planning and attendance of regular appointments such as vehicle inspections, servicing, calibration, compliance checks, and other scheduled maintenance or regulatory requirements.
  • Verify reported vehicle defects, ensuring they are logged accurately, assessed for severity, and actioned promptly through the appropriate repair channels.
  • Liaise with workshops, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate and monitor repair timelines, ensuring roadworthiness and minimal vehicle downtime.
