SUMMARY

This position is based in Motherwell with regular travel to our depots offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of providing exceptional fuel distribution services. This role is vital in ensuring our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Fleet Engineer role

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • HGV Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body to an appropriate level (e.g. SOE, IRTE, ICFM, IAM) essential.
  • At least 3 Years managerial experience in transport related industry.
  • At least 5 Years engineering experience.
  • Full car driving licence, ideally with an LGV Entitlement.
  • Basic IT literate.
  • Familiar with various Fleet Management software.
  • At least 3 years road tanker experience.

Key Duties - Fleet Management

  • Continually looking at new Technologies to evaluate suitable products to be considered a benefit.
  • Working with both vehicle body and chassis manufacturers to ensure correct specifications are met in line with company requirements enabling product to fit the business with longevity.
  • Continuously develop and monitor spend progress against budget, recommending and implementing measures to reduce Fleet spend, including fuel, wherever possible
  • Ensure vehicle health and safety and road risk compliance is considered and managed appropriately in all work activities. Make recommendations to ensure the Organisation continues to employ ‘Best Practice’ fleet procedures.
  • Ensure the Organisation benefits from the innovation and the adoption of best practice in vehicle and associated equipment design, provision and maintenance, utilising the latest technology to reduce the Organisation’s environmental footprint wherever practical and cost effective, ensuring the latest legislative requirements are anticipated and met (e.g. low emission zones).
  • All vehicles are serviced and maintained in a roadworthy condition at all times in line with company ‘O’ License obligations without compromise.
  • Investigate and report to customers for any HGV MOT failure highlighted ensuring Non-Conformances have been made and recorded. Meetings are to be held with customer/supplier as and when required.
  • Lead in the procurement and disposal of all company vehicles.
  • Maintain records, proving that the fleet is compliant with regulations whilst demonstrating value for money
  • Manage maintenance schedules to ensure that the optimum number of vehicles are working at all times to meet the customer needs.
  • Budget management of fleet repairs, on costs and administrative costs, recognizing the need of value for money in compliance with Financial Regulations.
  • Maximize fuel economy and manage the fuel card usage.
  • Implement, maintain and develop policies and processes to ensure fleet operates effectively and efficiently, educating staff with the industry’s concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Create a suite of measures to show continuous improvement throughout all areas of Fleet Management.
  • Provide advice and guidance to peers and operators on fleet compliance issues.
