Description

Denali Transport Inc. is seeking an experienced individual with strong leadership, coordination, and problem solving skills for the role of Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair operations of trucks & trailers . This role will be critical in ensuring that our drivers are supported during roadside breakdowns, repairs are promptly addressed, and maintenance records are meticulously kept. The ideal candidate will have hands-on driving experience, an understanding of safety protocols, and a foundational knowledge of the trucking industry.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous driving experience (preferably as a CDL driver or in a trucking-related role) or a strong understanding of trucking operations.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance requirements in the trucking industry.
  • Familiarity with basic fleet maintenance processes and terminology.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively work with drivers, vendors, and repair shops.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, especially during breakdowns, with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software or similar record-keeping tools is a plus.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in a fleet maintenance or logistics management role.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and other industry-specific safety standards.
  • Mechanical knowledge of truck systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including outdoor settings for roadside assistance.
  • Occasional travel may be required to visit repair shops or inspect fleet vehicles.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $15.00-$20.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 32 – 60 per week

Responsibilities
  • Roadside Assistance & Breakdown Support: Act as the primary point of contact for drivers during breakdowns on the road, helping to find appropriate repair shops, coordinating repairs, and managing logistics.
  • Negotiate Repair Costs: Work with third-party vendors and repair shops to negotiate competitive prices for repairs, ensuring the best value for the company.
  • Fleet Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities for each vehicle in the fleet. Track costs, repairs, and service history in our fleet management system.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Collaborate with the fleet management team to schedule and monitor regular preventive maintenance for all fleet vehicles.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all fleet vehicles meet safety standards and are compliant with DOT regulations. Educate drivers and staff on safe driving practices and industry protocols.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with reliable repair shops and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective service for the fleet.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, repair expenses, and vehicle down-time, and present findings to the operations team.
