Responsibilities

YOUR FUTURE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Fleet Maintenance Engineer to support our operations on the Croydon Tramlink network.
As a Fleet Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Croydon tram fleet. You will deliver hands-on technical support, contribute to the investigation and resolution of performance and maintenance issues, and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive engineering excellence.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Provide technical support to resolve fleet performance and maintenance issues.
  • Monitor, analyse, and investigate technical problems, proposing timely and effective solutions.
  • Support incident and failure investigations, including diagnostic assessments on-site and off-site.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support the implementation of modifications and improvements to tram systems.
  • Ensure all engineering risks are identified, documented, and mitigated.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and specifications in line with contractual obligations.
  • Liaise with customers and stakeholders to ensure high levels of service and satisfaction.
  • Track project progress, manage work packages, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • A background in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering
  • Experience in fleet maintenance, ideally within rail or tram environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and change control processes in engineering environments
