We are seeking a skilled and reliable full-time Diesel Mechanic with a positive attitude to perform maintenance and repairs on class 8 tractors, temperature control units, and trailers at our Billerica, MA terminal. In addition to typical equipment service such as PMs and tire replacements, the successful candidate must be willing to learn new technology: vehicle diagnostics, communication devices, and tablets. Preferred Experience: · High school diploma or GED certificate (preferred) · Valid driver's license (CDL strongly preferred) · 5+ years experience working as a diesel mechanic · 5+ years hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic systems, and diagnostics experience · Knowledge of Diagnostic tool system · Experience working as a Mechanic on heavy commercial trucks and trailers · Working knowledge of ThermoKing and Carrier temperature controlled units · Experience with Tablets and App technology · Familiarity with federal annual Inspection criteria · Able to conduct inventory and order parts as needed Requirements Position Requirements: · Diagnose and repair issues in diesel engines · Diagnose and repair issues with hydraulics, brakes, transmission, steering, and other systems · Capable of performing maintenance on tractors and trailers · Able to mount/dismount truck/trailer tires · Capable of performing safety checks on equipment · Capable of coupling/decoupling and moving equipment around the terminal · Prepare and enter work orders into Fleet Management System · Perform welding or fabrication tasks on trailers and other equipment as necessary · Prepare work orders and order parts · Maintain a clean and safe workplace · Knowledge and experience with electrical and hydraulics · Must have the ability to lift, push or pull 70+ pounds, climb heavy equipment, and bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for prolonged periods · Must have strong communication and listening skills and be able to read, write and speak English · Must be able to obtain a security clearance About us: · Named one of the 20 “Best Fleets to Drive For” in the US and Canada for 10 consecutive years · Inducted into the Best Fleets Hall of Fame in 2022 · A family-based company culture with a paramount focus on safety · A comprehensive package of benefits and an environment where employees can grow and develop their careers Benefits: This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and company-paid holidays.
