JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you ready to steer technical excellence in the maritime world? Join our team as a Fleet Manager, Technical, where you’ll oversee the technical operations of a fleet of vessels, ensuring they comply with international regulations, company policies, and exceed customer expectations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead Fleet Operations: Oversee and guide a team of Ship Managers to ensure the technical operation and maintenance of vessels meet the highest standards of reliability, safety, and compliance with international, national, and company regulations.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Strategize collaboratively on technical improvements by analyzing performance data, creating KPIs, and addressing deviations. Implement corrective actions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop Training Programs: Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to design shore and seafarer training programs. Address competency gaps, provide technical insights, and actively participate in seminars to foster team growth.
  • Foster Compliance and Innovation: Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless technical performance, adherence to policies, and adoption of innovative technologies. Spearhead fleet digitalization to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Ensure Safety and Preparedness: Champion a strong safety culture by leading incident investigations, implementing preventive measures, and managing emergency responses. Ensure fleetwide compliance with updated technical standards and corrective procedures.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Prepare and manage annual vessel operational and dry-docking budgets. Oversee expenditures, track financial performance, and ensure timely resolution of claims in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Manage Dry Dock Projects: Plan, oversee, and execute dry-docking operations within budget and time constraints. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure thorough defect resolution and future operational readiness.
  • Enhance Procurement and Sustainability: Implement purchasing policies aligned with sustainability goals, such as emissions monitoring and waste reduction. Ensure efficient inventory management and effective coordination with accounting teams.
  • Lead Technical Innovations: Review, simplify, and automate technical processes. Work closely with IT and AI developers to identify areas for improvement and implement digital solutions that drive productivity and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Maintain harmonious relationships with stakeholders, including shipowners, suppliers, and external auditors. Foster communication and collaboration between shore and ship teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Mentor and Empower: Lead by example, providing mentorship and career development opportunities to technical teams. Promote a culture of innovation, quality, and excellence throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine / mechanical engineering / Naval Architecture. Should have sailed as Chief Engineer or Second engineer and minimum of 3-year experience in ship management, with a reputed ship management company.
  • Strong Business process improvement and optimization skills, with digitalization and automation capabilities
  • Technologically driven, comfortable working in a digital environment, logical process development.

  • Strong team orientation and has the ability to manage cross-functional relationships in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
