Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are you passionate about equipment management, hands-on engine and problem diagnostics, and ensuring peak performance across a dynamic organization? Join the award-winning team at Paramount Landscaping Inc., a company recognized for excellence in landscaping, snow removal, and outdoor property maintenance. We are seeking a Fleet Mechanic & Equipment Manager with a deep mechanical aptitude, capable of diagnosing engine and machine problems manually, not just relying on computer systems. If you’re ready for a long-term career opportunity with a company that values innovation and operational excellence, we’d love to hear from you!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking an independent, highly skilled mechanic who can balance hands-on diagnostics with modern tools for fleet and equipment management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Mechanic certification (Ontario).
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in automotive and small engine repairs.
  • Proven ability to diagnose mechanical and engine problems manually without over-reliance on computer diagnostic tools.
  • Strong expertise in fleet and equipment management best practices.
  • Experience with fleet management software and inventory tracking systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision (“lone wolf” mindset).

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Strong manual diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for engines and machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to adapt and improvise when diagnosing hard-to-find mechanical issues.
  • Attention to safety standards and compliance.
  • Effective communication skills with senior management.
  • Adaptability to flexible hours, including weekends and seasonal demands.

LOCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE AS FLEET MECHANIC & EQUIPMENT MANAGER

As the Fleet Mechanic & Equipment Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining Paramount Landscaping’s fleet of trucks, trailers, and equipment, ensuring all machinery is operational, safe, and ready for deployment. You’ll manage preventive maintenance schedules, track equipment data, reduce operational costs, and rely on both manual diagnostic skills and computer tools to identify and resolve vehicle and equipment issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES DAILY OPERATIONS OVERSIGHT

  • Perform preventative maintenance and on-the-spot repairs for trucks, trailers, mowers, trimmers, plows, salters, and other landscaping equipment.
  • Manually diagnose engine and mechanical problems using expertise and experience, not just computer diagnostics.
  • Conduct daily fleet and equipment inspections to identify issues, log damages, and ensure safety compliance.
  • Monitor GPS systems in collaboration with the Office Manager to ensure tracking accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and inventory levels in fleet management software.
  • Communicate daily updates and critical issues to the Operations Manager.
