Butler Machinery is looking for a Fleet Specialist to support and optimize our fleet operations by ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and cost-efficient. This role plays a critical part in supporting our transportation team, maintaining regulatory compliance, and maximizing fleet performance across our organization. What You’ll Do As the Fleet Specialist, you’ll manage and support fleet operations to ensure reliability, compliance, and efficiency. Key responsibilities include: * Overseeing procurement and commissioning of fleet vehicles, working closely with vendors and partners * Managing vendor relationships for vehicles, aftermarket equipment, and fleet-related services * Serving as a subject matter expert on DOT regulations and fleet compliance requirements * Supporting operations by troubleshooting fleet, regulatory, and vehicle-related issues * Managing DOT credentials, driver qualifications, and fuel card distribution * Preparing and submitting regulatory filings including IFTA and IRP reports * Coordinating vehicle titling, licensing, and renewals across multiple states * Managing fleet disposal processes, including documentation and vendor coordination * Overseeing GPS/telematics systems, including reporting, utilization tracking, and alerts * Monitoring fleet performance and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements What We’re Looking For  Required Qualifications * Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements * Strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations * Excellent problem-solving, organization, and communication skills  * Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities * Proficiency with computer systems, including telematics platforms and Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience * 4+ years of fleet management or related experience * Experience with vehicle procurement, telematics, and compliance reporting (IFTA, IRP, DQ files) * Knowledge of vehicle specifications, truck design, and fleet systems As a family business for three generations, we currently employ over 900 associates in 20 locations throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Nebraska.
