  • Understanding of safe working procedures and health and safety legislation relating to waste collection.
  • High standard of driving skill as evaluated by a driving assessment.
  • Experience of working in fleet depot
  • Good geographic knowledge of Conwy County.
  • The ability to communicate in English is essential
Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

This post will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of both fleet workshop and where required the vehicles that arrive at fleet workshop.
The post will also be responsible for the upkeep of the workshop and store areas

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - JOB SPECIFIC

  1. Undertake general duties and maintenance duties as directed by the Senior Transport Officer (STO) and Workshop Chargehands.
  2. You will also provide support to the authorities’ drivers in checking and maintaining authority vehicles as directed by the STO and workshop staff
  3. To ensure the workshop equipment i.e. Ladders, gas bottles, compressor equipment, air equipment, workshop tools, workshop chemicals and pressure washer are maintained and stored correctly daily/weekly.
  4. To wash down all vehicles for service/inspection, using a variety of methods, prior to being presented in to the workshop and to ensure that the vehicle wash bay is kept clean after each wash.
  5. Ensure the yard and plant-shop and workshop areas are kept in a clean and tidy condition.
  6. To assist workshop and plant-shop technicians (under guidance) in a variety of tasks.
  7. To deliver/collect vehicles parts and vehicles (cars, vans, HGV’s and trailers/machinery) as and when requested by STO/workshop charge-hands.
  8. To look after and maintain internal stock within the workshop.
  9. Be willing to undergo continuous training and assessments as necessary in carrying out your duties.
  10. To maintain a flexible approach in keeping with the requirements of the service, carry out any other duties which may be required by management, which may be assigned from time to time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – CORPORATE

  1. To be responsible for establishing good working relationships both internally and externally.
  2. Compliance with the Authority’s Policies and Procedures and to make known to Senior Officers any areas which are not adequately covered.
  3. To participate actively in supporting the Authority’s principles and practices of equality of opportunity as laid down within the Equalities Policy.
  4. To be responsible for the application of Health & Safety practices within the daily operations, sharing a common responsibility for Health & Safety across the department, directorate and Authority as a whole.

  6. As a term of your employment and in order to maintain effective departmental operations, you may be required to undertake any other reasonable task, commensurate with your grade, as determined by your Line Manager or Head of Service.
