JOB SUMMARY
Direct continuous communications, coordination, and facilitation of Flextrans bus operation, Lift Route Sector, and related support services to ensure ADA compliance, system safety, and reliability – including timely and efficient control of service provided to disabled customers. Make rapid, timely decisions that impact budget regarding most cost-effective use of current resources. Collect and distribute system-related data to all appropriate support departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus two years post-high school training or college education with emphasis on communications and/or business management, or related fields.
- Must have a valid Utah driver’s license and be a safe driver with no more than 4 moving violations in the past three 3 years. Cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.
EXPERIENCE:
Internal candidates: Three years of acceptable UTA work history, demonstrated knowledge of UTA systems, and knowledge of Operations Department policies and procedures.
External candidates: Three years successful dispatching experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrable speaking qualities over a two-way radio (i.e. clarity, intonation, conciseness, articulation).
- Interpersonal sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact, particularly under stressful conditions.
- Demonstrated problem solving and emotional control in a crisis situation using diplomacy and tact.
- Intermediate level skill in MS Word and Outlook & able to type at least 30 WPM. - Preferred
- Skills in systems dispatching using computer-assisted, repeater-activated, two-way radio. - Preferred
