POSITION SUMMARY:

Great Slave Helicopter is looking for a Type C Flight Coordinator.
A Flight Crew Dispatcher is the Yellowknife based GSH representative and point of contact between the operations department and the operational aircrew working off the main base, subbases or at remote camps, mine sites where there is at least one and possibly more aircraft performing specialized functions for the client. Co-ordinates and schedules all crewing and related activity by GSH aircrew. Arranges and alters travel and roster through direct liaison with clients, GSH aircrew and operations staff. Monitors and records all activity to ensure compliance with client and GSH processes, procedures, and standards. Ensures all activities are reviewed for safety compliance and that those activities achieve the higher standard and are undertaken efficiently and profitably for the client. Their main duties include logging each call, providing answers to questions by retrieving information from the necessary departments and supervising the crews’ routes to prioritize and organize their schedules.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrate a strong ability to collaborate, showing leadership skills and maintaining a positive, energetic attitude when working with both customers and colleagues.
  • Capable of working efficiently both independently and as part of a team, even in challenging and high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) at an intermediate level.

Responsibilities
  • Handle all facets of day-to-day flight operations, ensuring smooth and efficient flight scheduling.
  • Manage logistics planning, including coordinating ground support for departing and arriving aircraft.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the daily flight schedule and keeping relevant personnel informed with trip information.
  • Assist with the coordination of all aspects of flight operations, from scheduling to execution.
  • Maintain a listing of all on-duty and off-duty aircrew (flight and maintenance) staff, with a general understanding of their capabilities and qualifications.
  • Ensure assigned aircrew meet the client standards for minimum aircrew qualifications, currency, and flight and duty regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with flight crews, ensuring rotation schedules are kept updated daily and coordinating any necessary changes.
  • Coordinate aircrew travel assignments through GSH Travel, ensuring information is communicated clearly to both the crew and client representatives at inbound sites.
  • Maintain open communication channels with Operations and Maintenance Managers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure that all HOC department schedules are aligned with the requirements set out in the Flight Dispatch Manual.
  • Be responsible for managing and administrating the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system.
  • Attend to phones and radios, ensuring all communications are handled efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
