Description SUMMARY The Flight Paramedic will work in conjunction with the Flight Nurse to provide high-quality, pre-hospital and inter-hospital critical care across the lifespan, including assessment, triage and treatment utilizing critical thinking skills, standards and guidelines established by the State of Wisconsin and Flight For Life. This position will work closely with our pilots and mechanics as a team to ensure that safety remains the number one focus throughout the transport continuum. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. · Adhere to established safety protocols to ensure the well-being of oneself, patients, colleagues, and the overall work environment. · Implement care, medication, and treatment orders authorized by the Medical Director and the Medical Control Physician. · Perform a callback to referring agencies and present family members to provide patient status update. · Maintains confidentiality of all information and adheres to all HIPPA standards. · Act as a resource person for staff, customers, patients, patient families, and partners. · Comply with all Policies and Procedures. · Maintains awareness of current issues related to pre-hospital and inter-hospital care through review of professional publications or participation in professional activities at the local, state, and national level. Requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS Required: · Demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking skills and effective problem-solving techniques. · Good written and verbal communication. · Maintain a current Wisconsin Paramedic License with Critical Care Endorsement. · A minimum of three years’ experience working as a paramedic in a high volume, high-acuity paramedic system. · A minimum of one-year experience working as a paramedic with the critical care endorsement. · Utilizes both independent and collaborative clinical judgment to prioritize and deliver advanced patient care and interventions safely and effectively. · Utilizes collaboration and interpersonal skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams to care for patients. · Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certifications. · Successful completion of certifications or courses: o Within one year of hire: § Neonatal Resuscitation Provider § FFL Advanced Trauma course § National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100 and 200 § High Risk Obstetrical course o Within two years of hire: § Certified Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) · Maintain weight of 225 pounds or below. Preferred: · Previous Helicopter Emergency Medicine Service (HEMS). · National Registry Certification. · Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C). The employee will be required to wear a helmet for an extended period of time with night vision goggles. The employee must be able to move and work within a restricted space. This includes a high-stress situation, extreme temperatures/conditions as well as extreme noise conditions.
