Job Title: Flight Sciences Internship Internship Dates: 8 JUNE 2026 – 8 AUGUST 2026 Job Description: X-Bow Systems is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Flight Sciences team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and analysis of launch vehicle trajectories, system performance, and multidisciplinary engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background and a passion for aerospace engineering, trajectory simulations, and systems analysis. Key Responsibilities: Trajectory Analysis: Develop and analyze tactical, ballistic, suborbital, and orbital launch vehicle trajectories for rail launch and thrust vector control (TVC) guided systems. Perform dispersions and fault analysis to ensure robust system performance and reliability. Trajectory Simulations: Conduct 3DoF and 6DoF trajectory simulations using tools such as POST2/POST3D and/or TAOS. Analyze simulation results to optimize system performance and identify potential improvements. Weights & Sizing: Collaborate with the team to evaluate launch vehicle weights and sizing for optimal performance. Systems Analysis: Apply a multidisciplinary skillset to analyze launch vehicle performance, in-space systems, landers, propulsion, aerodynamics, and technology assessments. Perform value stream mapping to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains. Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Strong understanding of flight sciences, trajectory analysis, launch vehicle dynamics, and propulsion systems. Experience with simulation tools such as POST2/POST3D, TAOS, or similar software is highly desirable. Familiarity with multidisciplinary systems analysis, including aerodynamics, propulsion, and in-space systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts effectively. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of thrust vector control (TVC) systems and rail launch mechanisms. Experience with fault analysis and dispersions studies. Familiarity with value stream mapping and technology assessments.
