The Flight Simulator Technical Hardware and Kitting Specialist (Associate or Mid-Level) position within Training & Simulation Digital Services at Boeing Global Services involves providing technical support for all Boeing Aircraft Type Simulator Packages, specifically focusing on the hardware kitting and Lifecyle aspects. The main responsibilities of this role include coordinating with simulator manufacturers to deliver flight deck hardware based on customer configurations, Working through warranty and non-compliance issues, monitoring deliverable performance, identifying hardware requirements in collaboration with internal functions, ordering aircraft simulator kit hardware to meet program schedules, developing support materials for program reviews, assisting in resolving flight simulator hardware issues by coordinating with internal functions, and ensuring all types of hardware are operational to support “Ready for Training” needs. This position can be based in Long Beach, CA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • 1+ years’ related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Level 3: 5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience. (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)

SUMMARY PAY RANGE FOR MID-LEVEL (LEVEL 3): $76,500 – $103,500

Responsibilities
  • Acting as the focal point for Training Device Manufacturers (TDM), Airplane Customers, and internal/external training centers for hardware needs.
  • Developing airplane model hardware kits, defining flight deck components to be provided by Boeing to simulator manufacturers to match aircraft design.
  • Interfacing with Supplier Management to manage the order and delivery of new kit part requirements.
  • The requirement is to address issues in the hardware lifecycle, address customer issues promptly, find new opportunities, and free up the Lead from constant daily pressing tasks so that they can focus on bigger issues and initiatives.
  • Warranty claims for hardware after training devices are in service
  • Non-conformance issues with hardware during simulator manufacturing
  • Construct impact report and manage all part requests from Production, MODs & AOG
  • Assisting in Kitting surge support as well as assist hardware focal as needed
  • BGS Supply Chain Supplier Management liaison
  • Inventory management for all kitting hardware
  • Lower-level device HW kit development
  • Military Derivative hardware kitting and support
  • Boeing Part Page and spares request support
  • Coordination between USM, T&SDS & Campuses for hardware management of Boeing’s own excess inventory – used and new
  • Red Label hardware management
  • Acting as a liaison between Supplier Management, Supply Chain, TDM and Airline.
  • This position requires strong coordination and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Providing technical support to sustaining programs as required.
  • Providing information to facilitate parts moving through Boeing systems/supply chain.
  • Utilizing Electronic Standardized Process for Engineering Coordination (eSPEC) to create kits for driving demands for PMDB projects.
  • Utilizing Change Lifecycle Management Application to request changes for PMDB project shipments that support BSPs.
  • Utilizing Simulator Tracking and Recording System (STARS) Tableau or obtaining the ability to use it.
  • Using Boeing Enterprise Shipping System (BESSY) to look up shipments that support Boeing Simulator Projects (BSP) is a plus.
  • Using REDARS and Boeing drawing systems.
  • Using Project Management Database (PMDB) for operational tracking and loading BSP demands and shipments.
  • Using Production ERP Environment to status parts.
  • Supporting Ad-Hoc needs
  • This position will take most direction from the Hardware & Kitting Lead.
  • This position does not touch physical hardware in person nor personally repair it.
