The Job: As part of Seneca’s flight test crew, you’ll run ground operations for UAS flight tests and ensure every flight is safe, efficient, and effective. You’ll take responsibility for range safety, pre-flight and post-flight checks, battery and equipment management, record keeping, and site upkeep. This role comes with full stop authority: if you see something unsafe, you call “Abort”—no questions asked. You’ll be supported with structured training, clear checklists, and mentorship, and you’ll have the opportunity to improve our test operations as we scale. What You'll Do: Ensure safety during tests: Maintain visual line-of-sight, monitor weather, enforce wind limits, and call out hazards. Follow fire and emergency protocols with authority to abort flights. Run pre- and post-flight checks: Execute checklists, inspect aircraft and equipment, and handle drone assembly, loading, and securing. Manage batteries and equipment: Track voltages, charge and log usage, and keep all powered gear ready. Flag issues promptly. Capture and log data: Operate cameras, upload test footage daily, and complete mission flight logs. Maintain test site: Keep site clean, stocked, and safe; coordinate replenishments and report maintenance needs. What You Bring: Safety-first mindset with attention to detail, checklists, and logs. Hands-on experience with technical equipment or field operations Basic technical skills: tools, battery handling, cameras, and Google Drive/forms. Physically able to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors, and travel to regional test sites (incl. early mornings/weekends).
