Who You Are As a Classroom Support Staff (Floater) member at CAC, you are a supportive and dedicated individual committed to ensuring a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment for children. You play a key role in assisting teaching staff, promoting health and nutrition, and fostering parental involvement while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Responsibilities Classroom Support: Assist teaching staff by providing coverage during breaks and planning time, working in various classrooms or outdoor play areas as assigned. Child Engagement: Participate with children during family-style mealtimes to model good nutritional habits. Individualized Plans: Become familiar with individualized programs and behavior plans for each child, assisting in the implementation of teacher-designed behavior management strategies. Parental Engagement: Support an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom. Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of student records at all times. School Readiness: Perform activities that contribute to children’s school readiness as directed by the center director and teaching staff. Program Improvement: Participate in the annual program self-assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Professional Development: Attend and actively participate in in-service training, staff meetings, and other activities to support your professional growth. Collaboration: Work cooperatively with staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, community professionals, and clients to foster a positive work environment. Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety of up to 22 people, including the ability to respond quickly to ensure safety. Follow CAC's policies and procedures and adhere to Early Childhood Education Program Performance Standards and State of Maryland child care licensing requirements. Other Duties as Assigned: Take on additional responsibilities, special projects, and tasks as needed to support CAC’s mission. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice. *** Qualifications Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent 1+ years of experience with children, ages 3-5 45 hours in Child Growth and Development 45 hours in Preschool Methods and Materials Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle during work hours. Ability to work in an active classroom environment, with changes in climate and noise levels. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and respond quickly to ensure the safety of children Proficiency in using a computer and basic technology. Able to maintain a safe environment for up to 22 people. This includes but is not limited to the physical ability to evacuate students and clients during disaster drills and emergency situations. Able to read, write, comprehend, and speak English Preferred CPR and First Aid certification Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or state-specific ECE certification.
